About Our Feathers
Are your feathers real or synthetic?
All of our hat feathers are 100% natural feathers — no synthetics. We source genuine feathers including wild turkey, pheasant, goose, guinea, and other premium natural varieties. Every feather is handpicked and hand-finished right here in Tennessee, so no two are exactly alike.
How durable are the feathers?
Natural feathers are surprisingly resilient when handled with care. With proper storage and occasional light grooming, a quality hat feather will hold its shape and character for years. Avoid heavy moisture, or crushing pressure (like being packed under other items) to preserve its natural oils and structure.
How do I care for my hat feather?
To keep your feather looking its best:
- Store it away from humidity and direct sunlight when not in use.
- If the feather gets slightly flattened, hold it briefly over steam (a boiling kettle works great) and gently reshape the barbs with your fingers.
- Avoid submerging in water or using chemical cleaners.
- Handle by the quill rather than the feather barbs when possible.
Sizing & Fit
How do I choose the right feather size for my hat?
Feather size is largely a matter of personal style, but here are some general guidelines:
- Short feathers (under 5"): Subtle, classic look — great for everyday wear and smaller hat brims.
- Medium feathers (5"–9"): The most versatile range — pairs well with most Western and cowboy hat styles.
- Long feathers (10"+): Bold, statement look — ideal for wide-brim hats, show, or special occasions.
When in doubt, go slightly longer — you can always tuck more quill into the hat band to shorten the visual length.
How do I attach a feather to my hat?
Most hat feathers are tucked into the hat band or pinned just behind the band. Simply slide the quill (the hard base of the feather) under the hat band at your preferred angle. No special tools needed. You can also tie the feather into your hat band. That way, if it does come out of the hat band it won’t blow away. Some customers use a small hat pin or feather clip for extra security — especially for longer feathers or windy days.
Shipping & Processing
How long does it take to ship a handcrafted feather?
Our handcrafted hat feathers are made in small batches in Tennessee. Please allow 2–5 business days for processing and hand-finishing before your order ships. Once shipped, domestic delivery typically takes an additional 3–7 business days depending on your location.
What about print-on-demand items?
Some items in our shop — including apparel, accessories, and branded goods — are made to order through our print-on-demand partners (Printify, Monster Digital, Underground Threads, Fulfill Engine). These items are produced and shipped directly from our partners' facilities and have their own timelines:
- Production time: Typically 3–7 business days.
- Shipping time: Typically 5–10 business days for domestic orders.
Because these items are produced on demand, they may ship separately from your handcrafted feathers if you order both in the same cart.
Do you ship internationally?
We currently ship primarily within North America (US and Canada). If you're outside North America and interested in our products, please contact us and we'll do our best to accommodate you.

Can I mix and match feather types in the bundle?
Yes! Any two feathers from our collection qualify. Mix species, colors, and sizes to build your perfect pair.
Returns & Exchanges
What is your return policy for handmade items?
Because our feathers are natural, handcrafted products, each one is unique and made to order in small batches. We stand behind our quality — if your feather arrives damaged or is not as described, please contact us within 7 days of delivery and we'll make it right with a replacement or refund.
For fit or style preferences, we're happy to exchange an unworn, undamaged feather within 14 days of delivery. Return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer for preference-based exchanges.
Can I return a print-on-demand item?
Print-on-demand items are made specifically for you and cannot be restocked, so we generally do not accept returns for preference-based reasons. However, if your item arrives damaged, misprinted, or defective, please contact us with a photo within 7 days and we will arrange a replacement at no cost to you.
